Is it possible to add a trigger for WHEN the Arlo Pro alarm is on? I want to be able to create a flow based on this to control my hue lights.
I do this a bit differently. I only sound the alarm using Stringify if certain conditions are met (eg. My wife and I are both out and the alarm indoors has been trigerred a few times from motion sensors & /or Arlo cameras. Then I flash my Hue bulbs red too (if it's night time) and send myself a notification. After a while I stop the alarm sounding. So I don't need to interrogate the alarm to see if it's running. Maybe try it that way around instead if it can work for your use case.
My cameras will be outside so slightly different as I don't want to automatically trigger the siren. Would like the lights to turn on and flash red when the siren is activated. Yours does sound good though
I have cameras outside and inside, but yeah I trigger the siren automatically. So how will you trigger it? Maybe you can use a smartthings button or suchlike instead so that you can still "manually" activate the siren but also activate the lights too.
Through the Arlo app, I could manually run a flow but thought it would be handy to trigger flows and automatically start the siren from Stringify.
You can absolutely start the siren from Stringify. Its an option on the base station Thing. It's exactly what I do, and then I also manipulate the lights. Example flow below, showing the options on the base station (although of course there is no strobe on the Arlo base station, just a siren)...
The base station shows up in my list of things but when I go to add a thing to a flow it is not available, did you have to do anything else to make this available?
Yes, add it using SmartThings. Then it's addressable for siren. You will need a SmartThings hub
I can't buy another Hub
Ha ha ha, yeah I know what you mean. But more recently I've seen the value of these little hubs. I've just bought literally 40 bulbs from China which are set up individually using WiFi directly. Now my router is struggling. These little hubs have a value for sure...
haha. I've already got the Router, a Switch, Powerline adapters, Hue, Netgear and a NAS all plugged in, one of my rooms is starting to look like a server room
Me too! 🤣🤣🤣We should start a new thread for people to post their Spaghetti setups. Mine is a complete mess tucked in behind the TV.
